There are a few ways to play backgammon these days.  You can obviously play with friends or even travel to a casino.  But probably the best way to play backgammon today is online.

Playing with friends was great when I was young, but these days with family and work it’s not easy, or often, that I get the chance and time to sit down and play with friends.  Plus, when I do, we don’t play for high stakes, we keep it to playing with small change or no money at all; after all, playing for high stakes is not the best way to have a friendly game.  That’s why nowadays when I play, I play backgammon online.  I could go to a casino if I wanted to play for real money, but that’s a long drive.  Playing backgammon online allows me to play from home at any time of the day and play for high stakes against the thousands of other online backgammon players who are always on at any time of the day or night; I never have a problem finding an opponent.

Plus playing backgammon online gives me a great experience with amazing graphics and special features like chat and video chat, playing different rules variants, and even different backgammon board types.  Backgammon is a game that’s evolved over at least 1,000 years and playing backgammon online is just the latest development that allows backgammon players all over the world to find a new way to have fun and experience this great game.
